Leave from Dungegan, passing the Garda Station and walk through Milaguleen where you will cross the main Waterville-Ballinskelligs road. Continue on the road through the townlands of Emlaghmore, Muingydowda, Emlaghlea, and Emlaghnamuc, taking opportunity to see the majestic views of Ballinskelligs Bay and Waterville and Loher in the distance.
At Emlaghnamuc, you will once again cross the main road, taking the byroad to the beach, which will commence a mile-long stretch of this route along the beach which will take in panoramic views of the bay’s most striking features, including Ballinskelligs Castle and Horse Island, as well as a glimpse of the Dingle Peninsula in the distance. At low tide, you might catch a glimpse of the submerged “Morning Mist” which ran aground in 1910 on the Inny Strand or The Ferry as it is referred to locally. On reaching Reenroe Beach rejoin the main road and finish the loop by walking via Millaguleen and back to Dungeagan.
Please ensure you check tide times locally before you embark on this walk.
