This is an 8 km walk along minor public roads from the Glen Strand to Killonecaha and Coom. On a clear day nothing compares to the majestic skelligs, Carraig Liomáin and Puffin Island clearly seen from the Glen. Setting out from the beach front walk along the main road past the Skellig Chocolate Factory and the School.
To follow the primary spur of this route depart the main route at the junction with the road to Ducalla, and walk south along this road to the memorial dedicated to the World War 2 aviators and on to the end of the road.This route combines scenic coastal walks with archaeological features and modern history. On your return to the junction turn right to continue on to Coom on the main road.
The overall walk can be shortened by simply taking either spur, but to get the most benefit from all this route has to offer, you are advised to complete the whole walk. Please note that this is a particularly busy road throughout the year but especially during the summer months so care is strongly advised.
