The picturesque village of Glenbeigh is a popular holiday destination nestled at the foot of a well wooded mountain and close to the head of Dingle Bay.
Following the main road westwards from Killorglin, Glenbeigh is a popular destination for families due to the superb Blue Flag beach at Rossbeigh which is located 3km from the village. The sandy beach which stretches for over 6.5 km, offers spectacular views across the bay to the Dingle Peninsula. Rossbeigh is a popular surfing, swimming and walking spot for locals and visitors alike.
Glenbeigh and Rossbeigh also have their fair share of history. In the 19th Century a stone tower was built at the northern end of the beach as a marker for ships entering Castlemaine Harbour. To reach the beach take the right exit down the hill at the end of the village.
Horse riding in Glenbeigh is very popular and it is an ideal location for fishing (with seven fishing lakes among the mountains) golfing, tennis, canoeing, mountain walking and orienteering. The village ofGlenbiegh has some lovely old traditional pubs with regular sessions of traditional music, song and dance. You will find restaurants serving both local specialties and gourmet delicacies. You will be well rewarded for making a detour eastwards to take the circular drive of Caragh Lake for it’s beautiful scenery and tranquility.
