Glencar House Hotel lies in the Highlands of Kerry and was built as a hunting lodge in the late 1670s by the Earl of Landsdowne.The house has fine views over the surrounding hills and there is cosy public bar and a five course traditional meal is served in the dining room, overlooking the oak woods.
The Upper Caragh catchment is a richly diverse fishery, from the classic salmon pools to mountain streams and loughs all with good numbers of salmon and trout. It is famed as a spring fishery but a large number of grilse runs from 1 March to 30 June. Daily permits are available before and after these dates. All pools have easily accessible banks and good fly fishing water. Each beat has a fishing hut. Disabled access possible on some beats.
