Bolus Loop Walk, Ballinskelligs

This 9km walk on Bolus Head through working hill farm land gives spectacular views of the western coastline of Kerry, past Valentia and the Blaskets to the north and south over Ballinskelligs Bay towards Kenmare not forgetting Skellig Michael, Little Skellig, Lemon Rock and Puffin Island.

Emlagh Loop Walk, Ballinskelligs

This walk extends over 7km taking in Reenroe beach and the Inny strand (or the Ferry as it is known locally), as well as marsh, bogland and forest.  A wide variety of flora and fauna are to be seen in the area throughout the year.

Coomloughra Horseshoe Walk -Glencar

This walk includes the three highest peaks in Ireland and involves transecting a narrow ridge along bare ground and sheep paths.

Beentee Looped Walk

The walk consists of an old mass path around Beentee mountain. The walk is fully stiled and marked. The walk offers views over the Fertha River, Beginish Island and Valentia Island. From the ridge there are breathtaking panoramic views for miles all round. This walk is approved by the Irish Sports Council and insured under the Kerry Way.

Derrynane House, National Historic Park – Caherdaniel

Derrynane House was the ancestral home of Daniel O’Connell, the Irish statesman who played an important role in gaining Catholic Emancipation in 1829.

Bray Head Walk – Valentia

This is a very scenic walk with great views overlooking the Skelligs and Dingle Peninsula. A mixture of track and sheep paths climbing to 300 metres.

Rossbeigh Looped Walk – Glenbeigh

This walk is over the rounded dome of Rossbeigh Hill and along the narrow green roads that follow the coastline.

This is a very long walk that is also demanding.

Geokaun Mountain & Fogher Cliffs – Valentia

Geokaun is the highest mountain on Valentia Island at 888 feet. Fogher Cliffs form the edge between this mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. The 360 degree panoramic views include the Skellig Islands, Bray Head, Atlantic Ocean, Blasket Islands, Dingle Peninsula, McGillycuddy Reeks, 4 of Ireland’s highest mountains and Valentia Harbour.

Maughernane Circuit – Waterville

This walk follows a pathless route to a summit of 675m. It involves a ridge but is not overly demanding with gentle climbs to the summit.
